After a virtual delivery via Zoom Edgar Mauricio Hoyos-Padilla could now accept his real Shark Guardian trophy

13. January, 2023

SharkGuardian finally delivered in person

Good things come to those who wait: Usually the eligible SharkGuardian Award is granted in spring. Due to the big distance we could only award it virtual to Dr. Edgar Mauricio Hoyos-Padilla so far. Now we caught up on the official presentation.

  • most important shark protection award
  • many years of shark research
  • Great White Shark

Dr. Edgar Mauricio Hoyos-Padilla was already awarded with the SharkGuardian in April 2022. We already wrote a blog about the virtual presentation by our International president Alex Smolinsky and the Austrian president Herbert Futterknecht back then. In the previous blog you'll find all details why Dr. Edgar Mauricio Hoyos-Padilla deserved the award and which great efforts he put into shark protection over years.

On the 4th of January the official presentation could finally be held. Herbert and Gabriela Futterknecht travelled with the Award to South America and met up with Dr. Edgar Mauricio Hoyos-Padilla. He was just as happy about the real award as at the virtual presentation. You can watch it yourself in our video!

Do you know people or institutions that have made a special contribution to shark conservation at international level and deserve the award "Shark Guardian"? Sharkproject gladly accepts your suggestions. (info@sharkproject.org)
