Why is shark protection or marine conservation important to you?

I was already fascinated by sharks during my studies. When my first job as a marine biologist took me to Tanzania to research whale sharks in Mafia Island National Park, the deal was sealed - I want to spend the rest of my career working to protect these animals.

Do you have any special skills, experiences or expertise?

  • Marine biologist with focus and experience in Tropical Conservation & Charismatic Megafauna. I have had the great fortune to work on projects around whale sharks & various reef sharks.
  • Diving instructor with special interest in marine biology courses & diving for conservation. I want my divers to not only learn how to buoy but also how to protect our oceans.
  • Actively involved with Sharkproject since 2020. You can find me in the research team, in our "We can't do without you" campaign and in the area of texts for website & blogs. I'm also always happy to take part in events and trade fairs.

And which is your favourite shark?

Cetorhinus maximus (lat.)

Riesenhai (dt.)

Basking shark (engl.)

The cure for anything is salt water: sweat, tears or the sea.
