Why is shark protection or marine conservation important to you?

It is inconceivable to me that sharks are on the verge of extinction by humans. For ecological balance and to avoid leaving collapsed seas for future generations, action must be taken.

Do you have any special skills, experiences or adventures?

  • I have been working as a diving instructor and safari guide in the Red Sea for over 20 years. Shark encounters are among the most fascinating experiences in my profession. Part of a dive guide's job is to explain to divers how best to behave in a shark encounter, and also to give them general knowledge about sharks.
  • Shark conservation affects all of us, even people who will never encounter a shark in its natural habitat, because overexploitation of wild species is destroying all of our habitats. That is why it is important for me to support Sharkproject with my knowledge and commitment.
  • Nature is not a self-service shop that can be plundered forever out of human greed. The shark is a victim of this commercial development and needs a lobby. I am happy to be a part of Sharkproject, where together we point out abuses, inform and act for the protection of sharks.

And which is your favourite shark?

Fuchshai/Drescher (dt.)

Thresher shark (engl.)
