Who doesn't know the classic movie "Jaws" ?! A movie that drove people hysterical, caused nightmares and manifested the one and only picture of sharks - the evil, the man-eating monster of the sea...

But facts proof this picture wrong: Each year there are between 70 and 100 accidents, with 5 to 7 fatalities. The risk of being involved in a shark accident is 1/300 Million. The number of people being struck dead by coconuts is 20 times more likely.

The shark: a powerful body, a face without expression, large jaws with huge teeth, a dark and unfriendly environment, subject to headlines, horror news and sensation seeking movies. There is no surprise that the general people's attitude did not change by painting a picture of horror and terror. So why protect an animal that is a threat for people?

But it is the other way around - sharks have to fear people.

SharkProject is aiming to change this wrongful and sensationalistic picture. Through information, education and research.
Only through understanding can protection be successful. And sharks need this understanding before it's too late.

"If sharks die, the sea dies"
